Martinis and Apple Pie

We've all had them: those evenings when no one is coming home to gather around the table; when the day has been "challenging;" when nothing in particular sounds interesting enough to bother cooking. It's always a dilemma. What to eat? If we don't have a freezer full of lovely entrees from our personal chef to choose from, or have polished them off, what do we turn to? Corn flakes? A scrambled egg? Peanut butter sandwich? Left over take out? Or martinis and apple pie? Oh, yes, this was my go-to meal last night. Charlie was working late and I had had a rough day. I didn't really want to spend any time in the kitchen, whipping something up to eat alone. I had been making my way through our "cheffed" meals, leaving me with no options that didn't require me putting on an apron. But, I did have good gin, and a lovely apple pie that I had made yesterday. That combo would do just fine. On the menu? Here it is:

Tanquerey Ten Martini, straight up, very cold, 2 olives
1 slice apple pie, heated, a la mode

Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
