Christmas Goodies

The party frenzy has ended. The shopping is (mostly) done. And it is time to make my way to my own kitchen. It's not that I haven't been busy in it already. On the edge of the counter, there already sits a minor array of goodies: Scottish Shortbread and Ginger Snaps from my own ovens, Coconut Macaroons, Welch cookies, Truffles and M & M's, from other kitchens. But this is merely a beginning. Christmas always means indulgence and by now we have traditions to go along with that idea. The girls come home this week from school, and are eager to participate in creating some of the things they've been longing for all year:

Sweetheart Cookies (with dates & pecans)
Sugar Cookies (with horrid-colored icing--yummy)
Caramels
Orange Rolls (for Christmas morning)
Almond Roca

See you in the kitchen!!
