Christmas Eve
It's Christmas Eve. The girls have on Elf, and I'm working a puzzle, both Christmas-time traditions at our house. And there's a light snow falling outside. It's lovely. On this day, we have other long-standing traditions: reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, going to church, and eating. Christmas Eve dinner has traditions all it's own. Some years ago, I served a new dish with beef fillets, and some potatoes with gruyere cheese. From then on, that was The Menu, in demand every year. The other dishes on the menu are the cook's prerogative:
Beef Medallions with Cognac Sauce
Gruyere Potatoes with Cream
Artichoke, Roasted Red Pepper & Olive Saute
Mixed Greens with Cranberries, Spicy Pecans & Roquefort
Raspberry Cream Crepes
And a lovely Italian red wine to toast.
Merry Christmas.
