Table Talk
Empty Nests
It's true. It's empty. Absolutely empty. No chattering. No daughters and their friends laughing and watching stupid movies. No lounging around with my daughters watching tv and laughing at the same jokes. No hearing their funny stories as they get home from work, or spending a couple of hours in the kitchen together. Oh how I'll miss them. BUT...it's quiet, there are no piles cluttering the counter, no nail polish on the table, no shoes cast off around the couch. And it will be the same tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that and...you get the picture. So there is cause for celebration. Our friends, the Beavers and Botes, are also new empty nesters, so it was time to party! Mike and Lynn invited everyone over, along with our friends the Richey's, and asked us each to bring the ingredients for a pizza, which we would make once we arrived.
Thai Pizza with Pork and Spicy Peanut Sauce
Pizza with Fontina, Jalapenos and Onion
Pizza with Pepperoni, Olives, Peppers and Mozzarella
Pizza with Peaches, Goat Cheese, Prosciutto and Rosemary
Pizza with Sausage, Tomatoes, and Artichokes
Brad mixed us some Bombay Sapphire martinis, Louise expertly transfered pizzas from the peel to the pizza stones. Lynn and Mike were the perfect hosts, fetching beer, pouring wine, retrieving hot, bubbling pizzas from the ovens. And we laughed and ate and laughed and talked. And I thought, We have great friends. And empty nesting is going to be so much fun.
